The small chapel is located in Ubstadt-Weiher, north of the Stettfeld cemetery on the Mühlberg, at a place where an important north-south road ran in northern Baden during Roman times. There may have been a pagan place of worship even then, as the head of the Roman god Jupiter was found in the immediate vicinity. In the Middle Ages, there was said to have been a shrine with a figure of the Virgin Mary there. This was repeatedly turned towards the village so that it faced it. But it kept turning away and looking north. The figure was damaged in the Thirty Years' War. In the 19th century, probably in 1841, a chapel was dedicated to her. At least that is the year on the table on which the statue stands. Anton Gärtner donated the land and Franziska Woll, née Deutsch, from the Untere Mühle, financed the construction. Since then, the chapel has been maintained by Stettfeld citizens. Source: https://www.kath-forst-weiher.de/wir-ueber-uns/orte-der-begegnung/kapellen/kapelle-auf-dem-muehlberg/

Very nice and informative Roman museum. It's worth a visit. If you want to walk the UW2 hiking trail (in the footsteps of the Romans), it's best to visit the museum first, where everything is perfectly explained.
