With its 86-meter-high, entirely brick tower, the parish church of Tramin is not only the spiritual center of the village, but also an architectural gem: It boasts the highest brick church tower in Tyrol. Source: https://www.tramin.com/de/pfarrkirche/

St. James's Church is perched on a hill above Tramin and is considered the town's most important artistic monument—and one of the most famous in South Tyrol. This small, prominently located church houses one of the oldest surviving Romanesque fresco cycles in the Alpine region. Created around 1220, the cycle in the chancel depicts extraordinary hybrid creatures, unique in their depiction. Where one might expect stone sculptures elsewhere, here a vibrant world of imagery unfolds on plaster: fish-people, bird-people, centaurs, dog-headed creatures, shadow-footed creatures, and other fantastic figures from the medieval imagination. ...not spectacular, visible from afar, but a place of peace - a place of longing - lovingly maintained, half forgotten but very present on site. Anyone who chooses this destination will find exactly what they are looking for!
