The Bathioveer is a foot and cycle ferry that you operate entirely yourself and that connects the banks of the Leie. It offers a fun moment of diversion during your bike ride or walk.

The gate also serves as a bridge over the Kalebeek stream. The north facade of the gate (facing the church) features, in addition to the date 1864, the coat of arms of the t'Kint de Roodenbeke family, who acquired the castle that year (and still own it).

To my knowledge, it's the only bridge where you don't swear, but are actually grateful that you have to wait because a boat needs to go through the lock. The manual lifting, the whole lock process, and the cheerful note from the lock keeper who politely thanks those waiting afterward... it's quite an experience.
