View from Siggjo

Highlight • Viewpoint

The route is pretty cool, but requires a high level of fitness. The route is extremely difficult and not recommended for inexperienced hikers. The hiking trails are barely marked and partly not recognizable as a path. The definition "moderately difficult" is not applicable! Better put it in the "very difficult" category.

Trollåvasnipen

Highlight • Summit

A very beautiful peak with a fantastic panoramic view. However, especially after rain, it's advisable to approach the mountain from the west side. The path on the east side is only sporadically marked and leads through very marshy terrain.

Nice peak with a great view. I recommend taking the path from the west, not from the east (the eastern one is really muddy, swampy, and poorly marked).

Across the Stord Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

The bridge leads from the island of Stord to a smaller island. From there you can reach the mainland or the island Bømlo via further bridges. It is practical that there is a separate path for cyclists and pedestrians on the bridge, so you can stop on the way and enjoy the magnificent view.

Bremstølsvatnet

Highlight • Lake

The best way to climb Bremstølsvatnet is along the trail from the waterworks and then south of the river. The trail is beautiful and of outstanding quality.

Almost the entire way up is via stairs, I found it very strenuous, but if you have reasonable fitness and some time, it's easily doable. The view is outstanding. The effort/view ratio is very good. I went down the other side and the path was very steep, without stairs, but also doable. You shouldn't underestimate the trail further south around the lake Finnåsvatnet, it goes up and down a lot. Also doable, but especially after the ascent and descent from Siggjo, it really challenged me.

The path was only (extended or) rebuilt a few years ago. Most of the path is over stone steps of varying heights. If you have knee problems, this path becomes torture. Apparently, it's a popular Sunday outing for Norwegians: a quick run up and down. For me, the path had nothing to do with hiking. It was simply climbing stairs.

It was a pleasant hike (slow pace, almost 2 hours) The path is always clearly visible. In the upper third you have to take your hands out of your pants pockets - especially when going down - because the stones can be slippery when it rains. Hiking shoes recommended! Beautiful all-round view!

We thought it was a pretty tough walk. But it can be done. You really get value for money.
