Varden Watchtower Kristiansund

Highlight • Viewpoint

Old watchtower built for the first time in 1801 (the replica of which stands next to the new tower). From the top (freely accessible) one has a 360 ° -view, which shows Kristiansund, the sea and the surrounding fells. Especially nice is the painting inside, which represents the environment (earlier) and the name of the summit, including altitude.

The Atlantic Road (Atlanterhavsvegen)

Highlight (Segment) • Bridge

This famous stretch of road, while totally hyped, is still worth a ride. The views more than make up for the traffic along the way. It can be a bit packed with tourists and RVs but traffic tends to move slow enough to enjoy the views. There are a few places along the way to get off the bike, walk around and enjoy the ocean.

Kirkelandet Church Kristiansund

Highlight • Religious Site

The new main church in Kristiansund, the Reconstruction Church, was built in 1964. At this point, Kirklandet had been without a Church for 24 years. The large wooden church that stood on Kirketomta before the war became a predator of the flames after the terrorist bombing in April 1940.
Until the Reconstruction Church was completed, Nordlandet Church served as the town's main church, and some other premises were also used as temporary church buildings.
It was architect Odd Østby who won the announced architectural competition for a new main church in 1958. The name of the winning design was Bergkrystall in Rosen. Both the location of the church and, last but not least, the architecture have long been the subject of much discussion in the city.
Kirkelandet Church marked an innovation in Norwegian church buildings in many ways and has achieved a distinctive position in post-war architecture.

Hågå Coastal Walk (Vevang)

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

At this point there is not only a parking lot with a view of the most elegant bridge, but also toilets and an artistically designed short circuit.
If you cross the street, you come to the best photo point for the bridge on a beaten path

Atlanterhavsvegen - the Atlantic Road - is a visual delight as it curves elegantly from islet to islet over its seven bridges. Nature and modern engineering meet and create this highly unique driving experience. The trip takes you from the fertile cultural landscape of the coast across moorland to bare crags along the weather-beaten, open bay of Hustadvika. Take time to watch the sun disappearing below the horizon from here. Atlanterhavsvegen has been described as the world’s most beautiful drive.

On the specially built Hågå coastal hiking trail in Vevang, you can comfortably move your legs without any significant inclines. There are a few benches along the way that invite you to linger.
