DNT self service cabin with plenty of food, wood, and main cabin with gas. A special key is necessary for access, and water is taken from the lake a few hundred meters away. There is solar panels so usb charging and lighting is available at the cabin aswell. Theres three toilets, with toilet paper. Getting there or leaving can be quite tricky espically in bad weather conditions, as it can become significantly slippery on the uphill South Eastern trail slope as it is smooth rocks, with slippery moss and lichens. Recommended to do it in full daylight with rope to strap yourself to sturdy places for support. Furthermore, closer to the cabin there are two river crossing leading up, where there is no bridge present and water level is about 25cm. The North Western side of the cabin, is generally easier to navigate up the slope, with generally sturdy and flat feet placements and plenty of vegetation for grip.

Very lovely food and ideal to end a hike like the Hardangerjøkulen round. The dinner is lovely and the main course we could take as much as we wanted at once, making us completly full. Due to weather our gear was very wet, but multiple drying rooms allowed us to dry up ready for the last section of the trail. The morning breakfast is also very good, i recommend the chia seeds oatmeal with some cherry jam and other if you prefer. The common area has nice seating and a dining area with beautiful views of the glaciers in the distance with the lake right out front.

The DNT Rembesdalsseter is a self-catering cabin where you can sleep and buy food. You need a special key for this cabin, which you can rent from the DNT. Payment can be made via the app or afterward using a special form. In addition to a kitchen with a gas stove, DNT mountain cabins usually offer a spacious living area with comfortable seating. During the 2025 summer season, a cabin warden/hostess was on site. This person primarily handled the allocation of booked or unbooked beds and the sale of food. Therefore, the DNT key was not required.
