Euphemia Anna 🌳
August 23, 2026, Rastplatz Setzerberg mit Panoramablick

This viewpoint on the Setzerberg (name explanation on information board) was redesigned as part of the "360-Grad-Weg Göcklingen" hiking trail (here: station 8): with an information board, a lounger and rest bench, as well as a steel sculpture (= coat of arms of Göcklingen; old court seal from the 18th century). The newly planted trees do not yet provide any shade. Here you are rewarded with a magnificent panorama: a view of Göcklingen, towards Landeck Castle ruins and over the sea of vines along the Haardt!

My favorite section of the route! For a few minutes, you're in the Shire of the Hobbits. Sunny valley, no cars, and lots of peace!

Sleepy little village centre with a stream running through it - a peaceful spot to slow down for a few minutes.

The town hall in the Heuchelheim district dates back to 1592. At that time, it was a ground-level open hall with arched entrances, which today only remain on the south side.

With a town hall, a café and ice cream parlor, shops, and a fountain. Everything's there.

This small chapel is located on a hill between Völkersweiler and Gossersweiler-Stein and at the end of a 14-station Way of the Cross. It is also called the "Jergen Chapel." "During the War of the Spanish Succession (1701-1714), Georg Glaser of Gossersweiler vowed to build a chapel in his namesake's honor, if he survived. To obtain the bishop's permission, he bequeathed a three-acre field to the chapel and donated a chasuble and a chalice. The rent was to be used to maintain the chapel. In 1722, the episcopal authorities granted building permission, and a year later, the chapel stood on the Wingertsberg. [...] Despite great poverty, donors were continually found to provide for the furnishings, such as the neoclassical altar. [...] The statues of the Virgin Mary and St. George were stolen in a burglary in 1970. Today, the chapel is maintained by citizens of Völkersweiler and Gossersweiler Stein." - Source (quoted verbatim): https://www.heilige-elisabeth-annweiler.de/fileadmin/user_upload/1-6-1/Download/Kirchenf%C3%BChrer/Kirchenf%C3%BChrer_Pfarrei_Annweiler.pdf
