This is a section that is not easy to ride through, uphill riding in a corn field, the surface is loose soil boulder, you can not ride quickly over it, it does take effort and energy to pass through this location

Spilsby is not a big town, there are maybe two distinctive buildings and features in the town, one being the tidy church on Church Street, it looks good from the different roads surrounding it and from all angles

Yes, the area is generally welcoming for dogs, especially in the open fenlands and on coastal paths. Many public footpaths cross agricultural land, so it's important to keep your dog on a lead, particularly around livestock. Nature reserves like Gibraltar Point and RSPB Frampton Marsh have specific rules, so always check local signage upon arrival. The flat terrain is ideal for dogs of all ages and energy levels.
Walking in the Fens around New Leake is characterized by very flat terrain and expansive, open skies. Trails often follow public footpaths across farmland, along drainage channels, and on top of sea banks. Paths can be grassy and become muddy after rain, so waterproof footwear is recommended year-round. The landscape is exposed, offering little shelter from wind or sun.
Absolutely. Many routes are designed as loops, making logistics simple. For a longer, moderately challenging circular walk, consider the Bolingbroke Castle – Bolingbroke Castle Ruins loop from Spilsby. It offers a mix of field paths and quiet lanes over 13 km.

For walks starting in villages like Old Bolingbroke or Spilsby, you can usually find on-street parking or small public car parks.
Yes, the Lincolnshire coast is a short drive away and offers fantastic walking opportunities. RSPB Freiston Shore features trails along the sea bank with great views over The Wash. Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve also has a network of paths through sand dunes and saltmarsh right next to the sea, providing a classic coastal walking experience.
The area is a haven for birdwatchers. The coastal marshes and nature reserves like Frampton Marsh and Freiston Shore are internationally important for wading birds and wildfowl, especially during the spring and autumn migrations. Inland, you might see typical farmland birds and mammals in the fields and along the hedgerows.
Many walks start or finish in villages that have a local pub. For example, routes around Old Bolingbroke or Spilsby will have options for refreshments. The larger visitor centres at Gibraltar Point and RSPB Frampton Marsh also have cafes, which are perfect for a break after exploring the reserves.
