On Sundays it's as busy as a motorway, a great shady route with several benches along the way.

A very mystical place to be in the right weather; time seems to have stood still here.

This is the final stop of the Hessencourrier. A nostalgic train with a real steam locomotive commutes from Kassel to here. It's worth checking the timetable: https://www.hessencourrier.de

The town hall was built in the 14th century as a sandstone building. An information board explains that its size was designed to accommodate an expansion of the town area. The ground floor was probably used as a department store. The building served as a barn for a time until it was restored in 1934/1935. The slated tower above the staircase is an addition based on plans by Friedrich Bleibaum. The central entrance on the market square side was restored and provided with a two-flight staircase. The oak supports on the ground floor were probably already part of the department store.
