Here you can look back on an incredible past. The so-called lenses are round-shaped stones that were single-celled organisms living millions of years ago.

The old town can be seen from afar from the surrounding area and is noticeable. The tower, in particular, is a striking attraction. There is a footpath to the old town. Unfortunately, many attractions are privately owned.

On the signs, the professions and, if possible, the last craft business in the village are presented.

Since Guttaring used to be at the bottom of the primordial sea, unicellular organisms (nummulites) were deposited here 60 million years ago, which can be found here on the field today. However, the story goes differently. At that time, a farmer refused to make a pilgrimage to the St. Gertrud church around the corner on St. Gertrude's Day. Instead he went to the field to sow lentils. When the lentils grew in the surrounding fields in summer, nothing happened on the farmer's field. He only found fossilized lenses and turned to stone himself. The farmer can only be redeemed if all stone lenses are collected. So let's go.... of course it doesn't make much sense in winter.
