Great stretch of mostly hardpack gravel (it's essentially a gravel access road). There are two bird-watching hides along the route that take in the wetland birds of Beddington STW. Closed to vehicles but with bicycle stiles at either end.

Mercers Country Park is a lovely lake set amongst green forests. You can try out various water sports at the lake including sailing, paddleboarding, kayaking and canoeing. The watersports center is open from 9.30am - 5pm and prices varying depending on which activity you choose. Even if you don't fancy getting wet, the lake is a lovely place to stop for lunch. A historic village on the edge of Blindley Heath, Godstone features in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Wachelstede. Don’t use this track as it was flooded. My tire was fully under - best head up to Mertsham and go around in order to avoid
