... the water has to come into the lake from somewhere ;-)

The bays and shores of Lake Millstatt are very different. The western bay, with its rather built-up shoreline, contrasts with the mystical southern bay. To soak up these differences, a leisurely bike ride around the lake is recommended. I now prefer a clockwise cycle, as it brings you closer to the shore.

The Egelsee is a moor lake in Carinthia, Austria, and is located at an altitude of 780 m above sea level on the Millstätter See ridge. The small forest lake can be reached from Molzbichl and Rothenthurn, from the southern shore of the Millstätter See or via the hiking trails on the Millstätter See ridge. The protected body of water does not owe its name to the lack of leeches, but is derived from the original name "Ecksee".
