Tips from the Community

May 5, 2025, Bridleway from Warren Row to Hurley

Excellent escape from the traffic on the main road, but it is narrow, steep and overgrown at the Hurley end - very rewarding at the Warren Row end on the downhill though with great views across the valley

Cleadon Water Tower is a prominent landmark based on the Cleadon Hills. The chimney was for a Victorian steam-powered pumping station, built 1860 to 1862 for the Sunderland and South Shields Water Company. This pumped fresh water reserves from the areas permeable limestone to help supply the South Shields area. It is Grade II* listed on the National Heritage List for England.

A great off road route (part of National Route 4) with a run around the beautiful village green of Littlewick Green and its archetypal cricket pitch and village hostelry (The Cricketers).
