The windmills / The Windmühlanger: In 1848, in this region (near Hof/Fichtelgebirge), an attempt was made to build a Dutch windmill (gallery mill), atypical for the area, to compensate for the recurring water shortage of watermills in summer and winter. However, the project was not destined for success: after economic problems, the mill burned down, was rebuilt in a modernized way, again did not function as desired, and was finally dismantled.
