We crossed the river dry. Things can get tight when the water is high.

The southern entrance to the nature trail around the castle lake is located on the so-called new dam. Here you should definitely walk to the right, on the left is a bridle path 🐎 😊.

The lake actually only came into being as a separate body of water with the construction of the "Alter Dam" in 1869. Conveniently, it was then called Castle Lake. Another part further south, artificially separated by a dam, is the castle pond 😊. Unfortunately, the castle that gave it its name no longer exists.

At least the narrow strip has decent planks on it. It is the only way to travel from Frankfurt along the Oder to Lebus. The water level is quite low at the moment. I have even seen the bridge 15 cm under water. So always check beforehand.

The bridge is not pretty, but you can cross the old Oder dry.

I was amazed at the restored bridge on March 29th, 2021 👍🏻 Unfortunately you are slowed down by the fences on the Oder meadows. Dead end. The way to FFO is now closed (African swine fever)!
