Always a party for children because the attraction of a pirate ship remains great. Nice place if you are walking here with children to take a break.

Beautiful mill, on summer days there are also people with small boats using the small lock at the mill. There is a bench nearby, a view over the water.

The Rietveldse Molen, a stately octagonal ground sailer from 1648, stands picturesquely in the polder landscape near Hazerswoude-Dorp. This national monument polder mill once drained the Rietveldse and later the Riethoornse Polder, and although it no longer drains, it still runs in circuit.

By virtue of a verdict of the dike reeve and high-ranking water board members of Rijnland, a number of small polders, the Kijfpolder, Molpolder, Behoudenkostpolder, Rietveldse polder, Opdamspolder, Buitenhoornsepolder and a few other unpoldered lands were merged into the Rietveld polder on 4 June 1648. This did not happen after quite a few objections had been raised against the merger. It was already known that the Rietveldsemolen must have been built around 1648, but it is clear that this had to do with the aforementioned verdict. The mill is located on the west side of the Rietveld waterway village at the end of the Rietveldse Vaart and approximately 1.5 km northeast of Hazerswoude-dorp. Until 1966, the mill drained the Rietveldse, later Riethoornse polder. The latter was created in 1961 by merging the Hoornsche polder and the Rietveld polder under Hazerswoude. As of 1 January 1979, the polder was incorporated into the De Gouwelanden water board. Source: www.molendatabase.nl
