Here, the road meanders along with the Vecht river. You'll have views of the charming Weesp and its characteristic windmills. Come early in the morning or around sunset; that's when the light is at its most beautiful and everything really comes to life.

A beautiful spot where you can spot various water and meadow birds in the flooded meadows in spring. https://www.landschapnoordholland.nl/natuurgebieden/landje-van-geijsel

Founded by Dr Samuel Sarphati, a leading physician in the 19th Century, the hotel was created as an architectural monument. A palace on the banks of the Amstel, which would put Amsterdam on the map internationally. The hotel was built in collaboration with Cornelis Outshoorn, one of Amsterdam’s most progressive 19th -century architects, and was inspired by some of the most famous buildings in Europe. With beautifully detailed arches from the “Golden Age” and the richly decorated lobby, the hotel has attracted many prominent figures and guests, who wanted to experience the glamour of the Amstel Hotel since it opened on April 27, 1867. https://www.amstelhotel.com/history/

A paradise for bird lovers! Het Landje is located near Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, near the A9 motorway and the Ouderkerkerplas lake. In mid-January, the water level is raised so that a layer of water covers the land, which continues into May. This attracts all kinds of wading birds and ducks like a magnet. Birds returning from Southern Europe and Africa settle here to fatten up. They also like to roost here because it's a safe haven. Black-tailed godwits (sometimes numbering several thousand), oystercatchers, ruffs, lapwings, wigeons, pintails, and many other species can be seen here. Black-winged stilts have even nested here. The Ouderkerk aan de Amstel Bird Working Group actively provides information from the birdwatching shed, which is open in early spring.

The cast-iron bridge dates from 1877 and was built by the iron foundry "De Prins van Oranje" from The Hague. The bridge, which has a limited load-bearing capacity, connects the Rijksstraatweg and Zand en Jaagpad with Brugstraat. The rising section consists of two cast-iron posts supporting an openwork cast-iron hammer. The entire structure has been listed in the national monuments register since 2001. A nice little town with a few places to eat and the usual shops. Unfortunately, there's quite a lot of traffic.
