The rich decorations in the gable refer to the original owner, the lord of the farm, in this case the regent family Van der Wolff from Medemblik. The coat of arms of this family appears on top of the facade of the farm, also known as Herenplaats, held by a wolf. The two curls at the bottom of the sides of the neck gable also feature a similar sculpted animal. The text of the memorial stone, surrounded by a taped draped cloth, reads: A° 1674 8/1 MD, THE THUNDEROUS STORM BLOW MY OVERVEER, MAER SPRINS AND SLANTS RECOVERY HERBOUT MY WEER A° 1675. This text refers to the interests and prosperity of the regent family that it had during the restoration of the Orange reign (1672) and the peace with England, Münster and Cologne in 1674. The extensive facade decorations of the farm in Zandwerpen were installed as a reminder of this event on behalf of this family in 1675 .

The memorial stone on the facade that commemorates the 'thunderous storm' of August 1, 1674. The farm was a real Gentleman's Place. This means that the farmer and his family lived permanently in the back entrance next to the cowshed at the back of the farm. The two rooms in the front house, behind the large windows of the front facade, were used by the lord of the farm who also owned the surrounding lands. During the summer months, wealthy families from the cities stayed in the countryside. This remained so until the early 19th century. The window to the left of the front door was installed in 1934 with a kitchen behind it, the farmer already lived at the front of the farm at that time

Dormer window of the bell-shaped farmhouse Zandwerf 45 in Spanbroek. The brick dormer contains a broken pediment containing a wolf with a coat of arms. Two wolves lie on the corners. Instead of a large window, there is a festoon with a facade stone attached to it. Under the facade stone a winged angel's head. For centuries, man has had the need to mark his property. On farms with a stone facade, this was done by means of a facing stone. A nice example is the facade stone in the very old farm at Zandwerf, number C 44. This facade stone contains an intriguing text with the year 1675.

from the bridge near Zuiddijk over the Noordhollandskanaal you have a beautiful view over the Uitgeestermeer. At the bottom of the bridge just before the Woude, exit N246 towards the water, there is a food truck that sells snacks. A good time to take a break.
