This boundary post from 1624 is a stone mast that marks the city limits. The 3 XXXs symbolize the city of Amsterdam. The crown represents the Kingdom of the Netherlands. In 2006, the top of the ban post (as it is also called) from 1624, which was immortalized in an etching by Rembrandt around 1650, was re-erected.
