The Zwarte Schaar is a beautiful meander of the IJssel. In 1954, this 6 kilometer long bend was partly cut off from the IJssel. The result is a nature reserve full of small islands, some small beaches, many birds and recreationists on boats.

If you walk from Doesburg to Dieren, you can actually follow the meandering IJssel the entire time. With your gaze set on infinity, you stroll along the dike, with the water as your companion.

A really beautiful section of the IJssel. The small islands, a few small beaches and many animals and boats are in the water there. You can even see cows climbing into the cool water to cool off.

Very magnificent, free-standing windmill! There are information boards at the mill about the purpose of the mill. The mill also has a special technical feature. Flaps are attached to two of the wings, which can adjust automatically depending on how much wind is blowing. The other two wings are still covered with fabric.

The path on the dike is wonderful for biking and hiking. From Doesburg to IJsselstrand-Camping it is also very varied and you can always see a lot left and right. But after that beach camping it gets more and more monotonous and you can really see who is coming to visit the next day! *wink*

Bronkhorst........the smallest town in the Netherlands! Just 150 residents, but lots of opportunities to get rid of your money. *grin* The hotel restaurant “De Gouden Leeuw” is highly recommended. It's a little higher in price, but it's worth the money! The staff was super friendly and helpful, the rooms were very clean and the food in the restaurant was absolutely TOP!!

Contrary to what the title suggests, you cross the Grote Beek - there is no path along it.
