Hiidenvesi Lake is the second-largest lake in the Uusimaa region, located between the municipalities of Vihti and Lohja. It stretches exactly 12.7 kilometers in length and reaches a maximum depth of 30 meters. From here, you can look out between the tall coniferous trees onto the shimmering water. The lake is divided into several basins, providing an ideal habitat for many different species of waterbirds. With a bit of luck, you might spot ospreys hunting from the shore or observe waterbirds raising their young.

Palakoski is a super nice recreation area with a host of outdoor activities on offer amongst diverse and beautiful scenery. It is a beautiful forest area next to the Palojoki river valley and with Lake Palojärvi on its northern fringes. It is punctuated with rocky outcrops, flowing trails and scenic cliffs. There are two marked walking trails, mainly on decent footpaths, but be careful on any rocks near steep drops, in particular when wet. If you decide to visit the Mummusali viewpoint, there are benches, a toilet and an information board.

This rocky viewpoint on the Klassarinkierros Trail is elevated above the trees and provides a lovely vista across the national park. It's well worth a detour from running the main loop.

A common sight in the south of Finland, yet never boring: a wet, boggy landscape with a series of narrow wooden planks leading across it. It's a good thing they're there—you can keep hiking with dry socks! I always enjoy sections like this.
