not too much traffic, gently rolling hills, asphalt varies from (mostly okay) to a section of brand new, fleeting lakeside views in many places plus more so in the north around Hirvensalmi village (a typical roadside path (old asphalt and blind intersections) runs through the village itself, use it or don’t)

cycling not allowed on the highway itself, the service road consists of segments of asphalt (mostly former highway) and smooth gravel, continues a bit further towards Mikkeli (as well as in the other direction), but between the next junction and Otava you either have to take a longer detour than from here via Hirvensalmi or brave the traffic on the highway for a while (really I’d recommend picking a different route unless you absolutely have to ride this way)
