A particularly tragic accident occurred here. It occurred in the middle of the 18th century. A large hanging wall collapsed. Three workers were underneath it, but only one of them escaped the collapse unharmed. The other two, Johan Frisk and Nils Söder, were buried by the rock masses. However, they happened to be in a depression in the longwall and thus escaped immediate death. This is known because the rescue team came into contact with Nils Söder. However, there was no way of saving them. So an agreement was reached with Söder to shorten their suffering by unscrewing the pump pipe and flooding the place, which is what happened. The two victims were later buried in Skaunäset cemetery.

Here lies the ruins of the "machine building". The house was a two-storey residential building for miners. A steam engine was installed in one of the rooms in the house, hence the name of the house. The steam engine probably provided the driving force for a mine rod up to the Torskebäcks mine. After the mine was closed in 1906, the house served as a poorhouse until the 1920s.
