Nimis Driftwood Sculpture

Highlight • Structure

Nimis is a work of art near Arild am Kullaberg.
Nimis, the temporarily very controversial work by the artist Lars Vilks, is hidden on the north side of the Kullaberg near Arild, about 12 kilometers north of Höganäs.
Nimis (abundance) is a labyrinth of various towers, mostly made of driftwood, at the foot of the cliffs. In the meantime, the constructions have reached a total weight of 75 tons.

The facility, which was started by Lars Vilks in 1980, was the subject of a yearlong legal battle between the local building authority and the artist. The authorities quickly declared the work of art a building for which no building permit had been granted in the nature reserve. In the course of the dispute, Vilks proclaimed the area around Nimis in 1996 in protest of the Micronation of Ladonia. However, the authorities finally did not implement the approval of the demolition of the plant, which was ultimately obtained by court.

Nimis has now become a tourist attraction and can only be reached on foot via a small, marked path from Heimathof Himmelstorp. The path leads through relatively steep and rough terrain, so sturdy shoes and good physical condition are required.

Stora Hults Fälad Nature Reserve

Highlight • Natural Monument

At the base of Stora Hult lies a cultural and ancient landscape, a remnant of the once widespread coastal pastures of Skåne's Bjäre Peninsula, likely grazed for millennia. This reserve offers a glimpse into the past, as much of Sweden's open pastureland vanished during the 20th century due to afforestation and cultivation. Stora Hult's field, though small, showcases the sandy, dry soil and old dunes characteristic of the area. While shrubs exist, grasses dominate, supporting hardy plants like yellow fat buds, trifles, and thyme.

Skälderviken Marina

Highlight • Rest Area

Skäldervikens Hamn, officially Ängelholms Föreningshamn, is a modern boat harbor in the village Skälderviken on the bay of the same name between the peninsulas Kullen and Bjärre, about 5 kilometers northwest of Ängelholm.

Skäldervikens Hamn is protected by the dunes from the sea side from strong winds and protected by its location in the mouth area of the river Rönne as far as possible from waves. Including the guest berths, a total of around 500 berths with electricity and drinking water supplies for boats up to 12 meters in length are available in the harbor. All other service facilities such as toilets, showers, sanitation and boat gas station (diesel / gasoline) are available in the port.

For the physical well-being in the harbor provides the restaurant Hamnkrogen and the pedestrian bridge over the river leads to the long sandy beach Skäldervikens Badplats in a few minutes. With the tourist boat Laxen, which drops near the bridge, you can take part in an approximately two-hour tour on the river Rönne to the townhouse in Ängelholm and back.

As a further service, the port offers some short-term parking (max 2 days) with power supply for caravans and motorhomes.

A very popular hiking destination, many hikers try to go straight down through the wooden structure at the top. But it is easier to go down the rocks right next to it.

Not entirely safe tour - many stones and roots, in the artwork itself loose wooden slats and protruding nails - but if you are careful and watch out for the weather - I would not risk it in slippery or wet conditions - you will experience a special place.

The route was extended in spring / summer 2020 by the section to Förslöv and, according to reports from the local press and a local woman (;-)), is paved throughout. Unfortunately, this section is neither available nor plannable on Komoot or googlemaps. If you come from the south (Vejbystrand), you get to the beginning of the section at the old train station in the center of Förslöv as follows: you drive on Ljungbyholmsvägen from the direction of Vejbystrand and do not turn off there at the level of Mercurivägen, but follow the asphalt path, which starts at this point parallel to Ljungbyholmsvägen. If you come from Båstad, you can just stay on the road in Grevie and continue on to Förslöv. This allows you to cycle continuously on the old railway line from Förslöv to Båstad. Particularly suitable for people who do not want steep climbs; Also a good alternative route for the Kattegatleden, which I think still leads via Torekov (mostly along roads).
