It's amazing how the old railway has been preserved while being transformed into this cycle path. Riding along this path with its tunnel, you can feel like a train traveling through the hill.

The city of Ulricehamn - or Bogesund, as it used to be called - was first mentioned in the Eriksronik (Erikskrönikan) in 1307, in connection with battles between the Danish king Erik Menved and the dukes Erik and Valdemar. The document with the city rights has not been preserved, but purchase letters and other documents from the 14th / 15th Century that craftsmen and citizens lived here at that time. The oldest surviving seal with a city coat of arms dates from around 1470, which suggests that Bogesund was already a city in the Middle Ages. Thanks to all the prehistoric finds in the area, we also know that people lived here thousands of years ago; for example, there was the so-called Bredgårdsmannen over 10,000 years ago, which was found in a bog in Marbäck near Ulricehamn. The Bredgårdsmannen - a 10,000 year old skeleton - was found by an excavator driver. The Bredgårdsmannen later proved to be one of the oldest skeleton finds in Scandinavia by far.
