Gullspång Railbike Station

Trelansbanan - Norra banan
At the exit from Gullspång you enter the old railway bridge over the Gullspångsälven. You pass the Laxtrappan, which was built into the old rapids channel to allow the Gullspångs salmon to migrate up and spawn. The tour then continues past Löksta gård and with the country road between us and Gullspångsälven the trail crosses the border from Västergötland to Värmland. About 13 km from Gullspång is Värmland's Säby Herrgård. After a few kilometers is Konsterud. There is a rest area here. The route continues through the jungle to Nysund. This is the highest point on the route. The old water horse from the steam locomotive era and an old track attendant's house have been preserved here. The journey continues via Stormossen, a beautiful wilderness rest area at Mosstorp (approx. 30 km from Gullspång). The next rest area is at Håkanbol. There is the possibility of a coffee break at Löfbergs Handelsmuseum, which offers a coffee service in summer. Passing the artificially created Håkanbolsjön through very beautiful nature you pass the ranger huts of Mobråten and Älgåsen and after Högberg train station and Högbergskärret you reach the terminus in Ängebäck, a few kilometers outside the center of Degerfors.

Silverfallet rapids

Highlight • Waterfall

An area in a nature reserve with several waterfalls. My photos were taken in July 2018. At the time there was a long dry period and associated with it was very little water in the stream. Thus, there is little to see of the waterfalls.

Lyrestad Church

Highlight • Religious Site

Lyrestad Church was rebuilt in 1674. It was preceded by a medieval stone church in the same place and partly on the same foundation. Walls in the western part of the north wall and some installations such as the triumphal crucifix and a sculpture of the hanged Judas have probably survived. The pulpit is in Renaissance style and was painted in 1652.

The waterfall starts slowly, with a series of small rapids, before it plunges over the large drop. There is a small rest area located here.

Beautiful church of Lyrestad. Also worth seeing inside! The small twin towers on the apse on the east side are special.
