Information board about the Old Württemberg Moat, which ran along this spot. The Old Württemberg Moat, whose construction was begun by Count Ulrich V in 1456 and continued by Count Eberhard im Bart until 1495, originally marked the northern border of Württemberg. In the following three centuries it served mainly as a source of customs revenue. However, as its strategic importance was only minor, it was abandoned in 1803 and was then increasingly subject to decay.
