In the immediate town center stands the community center, built around 1900, renovated and converted by the municipality in 1986. Until the 1960s, the current community center housed one of four inns in Alsdorf. The landlady, known to everyone only as "Wagnersch Oma", was legendary. Today it is the living room of Alsdorf. Used by local clubs and groups as a meeting and practice room, it also serves the local council as a regular meeting room. The community center is also gladly rented for private celebrations. ... The first mention of Alsdorf dates back to 1248. At that time, a nobleman named "Wilhelm vom Amilardisdorp" was mentioned as a witness in a deed of gift to the Marienstatt monastery. A copy of this document is now kept in the Alsdorfer Bürgerhaus. The first settlements to be mentioned are primarily the area in front of the Arsberg and the Alsberg. In these areas, the still recognizable core of Alsdorf developed with its distinctive half-timbered houses. The designation "Hölzerne Ecke" (Wooden Corner) indicates this. The third settlement area was in the Imhäuser Hof. The owners of the farm called themselves "von Imhausen". Forests, meadows, and pastures were used cooperatively by the settlers at that time. The origins of the still existing Hauberg cooperatives "Arsberg", "Alsberg", and "Imhausen" are traced back to this. Alsdorf was one of the most commercially active places in the Oberkreis until the mid-19th century. Built in 1680 on the terrace of the Arsberg, one of the first settlement areas in the town, the house, which is now a listed building, housed the so-called Hüttenschulze for many decades. He was the administrator and operational manager of the foundry. He also managed the foundry's cash box. The office of Hüttenschulze was once coveted, as it was associated with a lucrative salary in addition to the high prestige of the officeholder. The Druidensteig trail leads directly past it. ...

The signposted Siegradweg (D4 - Mittelland Route) runs from Kirchen (Sieg) directly alongside the busy B 62. A separate route is available just before Betzdorf. From Betzdorf, the "cycle path" then continues directly along the B 62 or along uneven combined cycle and footpaths alongside the federal highway. It's not exactly fun.
