The Philippuskirche was built in the style of a neo-Romanesque basilica between 1924 and 1927. The plans come from the architect Christian Ruck from Nuremberg. The “pupils” of the educational institution and the young brothers did most of the church building. Around 12,000 sandstone blocks were broken by hand in our own quarry and 210 trees were felled.
In 1971 the church underwent a comprehensive redesign by the architect Johannes Conrad. The altar moves into the middle of the chancel and the benches are replaced by chairs.

The Philippuskirche is an Evangelical Lutheran church in Rummelsberg. The Romanesque church was built between 1924 and 1927 according to plans by Christian Ruck. At that time, only the "pupils" (boys of today's youth welfare) and deacon students of the Rummelsberg brotherhood were involved in the construction of the church building. more details
