It's easy to intermediate hike, depending on amount of mud. Hiking shoes are recommended but can be done in running or closed sandals. Waterfalls and surrounding lush forest are great but Bamboo forest took my breath away. I have never seen something like that before.
We stayed in Kipahulu camp so early morning hike was deserted. Trail becomes much busier once hordes of tourists arrive from driving Hana Rd. Enjoy and respect!

While rated easy, the 3.9-mile (6.3 km) route with 747 feet (228 metres) of elevation gain can be muddy and slippery due to frequent rain, so wear sturdy hiking shoes. The estimated time to hike is around 1 hour and 55 minutes, making it a manageable adventure, but always check park conditions as stream crossings can close the trail.
