The pond is located directly at the northern palace park gate of Amalienburgstraße. The Hartmannshofer Bächl forms the inflow and outflow of the Kugelweiher, which in turn is fed from the Kleiner See at the Pagodenburg. It is the only body of water in the castle park that does not have an artificial bank, but a natural one, around which a border of swamp sedge stretches up to 2 m wide. There are water lilies on the surface of the water. All in all, an extremely idyllic little place where a short admiring stopover is actually a must.
