From May 15, 2017, the Oker Bridge will only be accessible in one lane. The reason for this is extensive corrosion damage to the riveted steel structure. The coordination with the monument protection authority becomes a waste of time, the surrounding nature reserves, as well as an FFH area (Fauna-Flora-Habitat Directive) and a bird sanctuary do the rest.

At the western outskirts of Vienenburg, the country road crosses the Oker. This bridge is currently only accessible by one lane. There is a separate cycle and footpath on the north side.

Cycling
The federal highway over the bridge is closed until autumn 2024 due to renovation of the bridge. Cyclists can pass. Therefore, little traffic there ;-)
