Built in 1256 as the first Romanesque church in Petersroda.

This can still be seen today on the south wall at the old entrance and on the Romanesque windows.

The new church was built in the Gothic style in 1576. In 1872 the church was extended with the octagonal tower on the church tower. Unfortunately it was largely destroyed by a fire in 1888. After the church was renovated, it received three new bells in 1928. The carillon was considered the most beautiful in the Bitterfeld district until then. However, the bells were confiscated for war purposes in 1943.
