The riverside path along the Rodau leads through the mill district of Mühlheim am Main, which once gave the town its name. Up to ten mills once clattered here on the Rodau and Bieber. The last remaining and still functional mill is the Brückenmühle, whose mill wheel still turns today.

The mill was first mentioned in a document in 1576 under the name “Holzmühle” and was subject to the Kurmainzische winery in Steinheim. In 1755, the property was declared dilapidated at the mill protocol and the economic situation as very poor.
The later owner Peter Hillebrand was found drowned under the Rodau ice in early 1810, his heir Martin Hillebrand died in 1830 as a "miller on the whitehead mill from constipation".
