Wyk is the island capital with a shopping mile, many restaurants and a beautiful beach. The ferry also docks here.
As an independent municipality, Wyk has been mentioned in historical sources since the middle of the 17th century. At that time the place only consisted of a few houses, the residents of which lived mainly from fishing.

Wyk auf Föhr is a good starting point for island explorations, both by bike or on foot. Especially in the off-season the place is pleasantly calm and you will find a very good infrastructure, which also makes a longer stay pleasant.

The center and only town on Föhr is Wyk on the southeast coast. The ferries to the mainland and Amrum leave from there.
