The Würm is a runoff of Lake Starnberg, which incidentally was once called Würmsee. Although the Würm and the surrounding cycling and hiking trails are a popular destination, it is really idyllic, especially as the small river flows through the middle of Munich. If you like it quietly, there is a simple trick: start your tour very early or very late. :)
