Pico Birigoyo is on the Cumbre Vieja. This ridge stretches roughly in a north-south direction and, together with the Cumbre Nueva, which adjoins to the north from the Refugio El Pilar, forms the central mountain range on the southern half of the island of La Palma. The Cumbre Vieja is of volcanic origin. It consists of lava, tuff and volcanic ash. Numerous craters line up. The views from there are sensational.
