A small, secluded village with a great pub "The Old Forge", the most remote pub in Britain. Great food and super nice people! A trip is worth it ... there is also a very rustic bank house to stay ....

Inverie is the only village in Knoydart, part of the Knoydart Community Trust. It's full of charm, the campsite is ultra-basic but with a stunning view of the sea and Loch Nevis. For a bit more luxury try the bunkhouse, also run by the Community.

Discover the wild beauty of the Knoydart National Scenic Area on this easy hike. You'll follow coastal paths with views across Inverie Bay and Loch Nevis, surrounded by high peaks. The route takes you past the charming Inverie Village and leads to Long Beach, a perfect spot for scenic views. A highlight is passing The Old Forge Pub, known as Britain's most remote mainland pub. This loop covers 2.8 miles (4.4 km) with a gentle 91 feet (28 metres) of elevation gain, typically taking around 1 hour and 9 minutes to complete.

Planning your visit to Inverie is part of the adventure itself, as there are no direct roads leading to the village. You will typically need to take a boat trip from Mallaig or embark on a multi-day hike into the peninsula. Be sure to plan your public transport carefully to reach this isolated location. Parking in Inverie for hikers is also limited, reflecting the area's remote nature.

This trail offers a unique glimpse into what is often called "Britain's last wilderness." The Knoydart peninsula is renowned for its majestic, unspoiled landscapes and sense of profound isolation. Passing The Old Forge Pub adds a touch of local character, as it holds the distinction of being the most remote mainland pub in Britain, making it a memorable stop on your journey.
