The watermill Oelsitz lies together with formerly about 30 mills on the Jahna. It is known from the baptismal books of the parish Weida near Riesa that the first oil mill Müller 1589 Balthasar Bennewitz was. Documents from the year 1721 prove that the mill belonged to the manor Jahnishausen.

Hiking
The weddings of the watermill Oelsitz and the villa opposite are - like that of all the others, formerly 30 mills alone on the river Jahna - over. Today the area is a technical monument after it was run down in GDR times. However, a support association begins to breathe new life into it and also organizes guided tours on mill days.
