Adolphsweg and Adolphstempel were laid out in the revolutionary year of 1848 to provide unemployed day laborers with a livelihood. It was named after the then Duke Adolph von Nassau. Today's refuge dates back to the 20th century. From here you can see the old village of Ems and the island of Silberau. Since 1859 the processing plants of the Ems lead and silver works and the large heaps have been located there. Around 1880 more than 1,600 people were working in the pits, processing and on the hut.
