Saint Gummarus (Gommarus) of Lier (born in 664 in Emblehem, an area that includes the entire Lier territory and not only the current sub-municipality of Emblem, died ca. 714) was a knight at the court of Pepijn van Herstal and according to legend the founder of Lier. He is the patron saint of all who are struggling with a fracture. We know nothing about Gummarus with certainty. The oldest known biography probably dates from the middle of the 11th century.
