Embark on the Cima del Bosco Loop Trail, a difficult hike that takes you through dense larch forests, particularly stunning in autumn. As you ascend, the path opens up to expansive views, culminating at the summit of Cima del Bosco. This challenging route covers 10.7 miles (17.3 km) with a significant elevation gain of 3337 feet (1017 metres), typically requiring about 6 hours and 29 minutes to complete.
Planning your visit is flexible, as you can hike the Cima del Bosco Loop Trail year-round. Winter offers opportunities for snowshoeing and ski mountaineering, but the trail truly shines in autumn when the larch trees turn golden. You will find parking often available near the picturesque hamlet of Thures, which serves as a convenient starting point for this loop.
This rewarding outdoor experience is nestled within the Cozie Alps, offering a magnificent 360-degree panorama from the peak. From the summit, you can gaze upon the Upper Susa Valley, including Mount Chaberton and the Sestriere Pass. A small chapel also stands at the peak, providing a unique landmark that doubles as an emergency bivouac for those caught out by unexpected weather.
