Romanesque church from the middle of the 11th century, freshly restored with EU funds. Like the much larger Romanesque church of Porto Torres, this one does not have a steeple either.

From Costa Paradiso to Viddalba passing over Isola Rossa — ring tour

    63.3km

    1,190m

Embark on a difficult road cycling ring tour from Costa Paradiso to Viddalba, covering 39.3 miles (63.3 km) with a significant 3909 feet (1191 metres) of elevation gain. This route offers a blend of coastal and inland scenery, taking around 3 hours and 24 minutes to complete. You will ride past the small, pink island of Isola Rossa, offering panoramic views, and experience the wild nature around Costa Paradiso with its red rocks and crystal-clear sea. The trail also features a small canyon with magnificent rocks and a river forming a lake, showcasing the unspoiled landscapes of northern Sardinia.

This challenging racebike tour demands very good fitness due to its variable gradients and particularly steep sections, especially if you approach from the north. While the surfaces are primarily paved and generally easy to ride, you should exercise caution on the scenic winding road between Valle della Luna and Costa Paradiso. This section is mostly single-lane with numerous blind corners, requiring your full attention. The route generally descends as you travel from south to north.

Northern Sardinia is highly regarded by cyclists for its diverse and largely traffic-free roads, offering both coastal beauty and hilly challenges. This route provides an excellent workout due to its significant elevation changes. As you ride, you can also discover cultural elements, such as the freshly restored 11th-century Romanesque Church of San Giovanni Battista, adding a historical dimension to your journey through this pristine and varied landscape.
