All mass graves were exhumed by the French tracing service for victims of war from 1955 to 1959. Identified victims were returned to their homeland, the remaining dead were reburied on the Leitenberg.

The cemetery of honor was inaugurated in 1949, the memorial hall two years later. The "Regina Pacis" chapel was built in 1963 to commemorate all Italians who died. In 1999, a memorial stone for the Polish victims was added.
