The Georgenberg hill in Enns now forms the extensive park surrounding Ennsegg Castle and rises approximately 30 meters above the town. Historically, the hill was significant: the old Ennsburg castle stood here, and in 1186 the Georgenberg Charter, an important succession treaty between Austria and Styria, was signed on its grounds. Archaeological finds document settlement since the Neolithic period as well as Roman use, including a temple complex on the hilltop. In the 19th century, the Georgenberg was landscaped as a romantic garden; today, the castle park invites visitors to explore its paths, viewpoints, and historical sites.
