Hiking
The story is well-known: Jesus looks out over Assent from the hill of Prinsenbos, where only bombs fell in the fields during the World War. It was an initiative of the Assent monastery and the Reverend Uydens. The local community cooperated. For example, the primary school children gathered the iron sandstone for the foundation.

Hiking
The statue consists of white painted concrete, the plinth was built in Maasmechelen marlstone and the foundation consists of iron sandstone from the region, collected by the students of the local school. At eleven meters it would be the tallest statue of its genre in Belgium.

Hiking
The Heilig-Hartbeeld overlooks Assent (Bekkevoort) from the ridge of the Prinsenbos. The residents of Assent placed this image of Jesus Christ as a kind of thanksgiving, because the bombs of a heavy bombing during World War II did not fall on Assent but in the surrounding fields. The image is not protected.
