Hiking
The field rush beech forest is a very rare type of forest in the Netherlands and Flanders, characteristic of very acidic (pH 3.0 or lower), nutrient-poor, sandy, loamy or often stony soils. It can only develop in places with a cool and humid subclimate, which is usually in the mountains.
