The old Col de la Croix du Ban marked the feudal boundary between the Archdiocese of Lyon, the Abbey of Savigny and the County of Forez, whose capital was Montbrison. Here the view is not as clear as at the Col de la Croix du Ban, however you can enjoy the view of the old cross and this beautiful wooded atmosphere, which depending on the light can be very bucolic.

BAN is an old word from the Germanic vocabulary of feudalism. ... The "Croix du Ban" recalls that this ridge path was the feudal boundary between the Archbishopric of Lyon, the Abbey of Savigny and the County of Forez, the capital of which was Montbrison.
There is no "bench" which is at the origin of its name.
