A footbridge at this location was first identified in historical maps when it was updated in 1921. Archive images from JMS AG indicate structural changes in 1951 and 1971 (elevation). It can therefore be assumed that the current construction is at least 50, if not 70, years old (source: schmerikon.ch/_docn/2980361/gemeindeblatt_Schmerikon_Nr_1_2021.pdf)
