Hiking

The municipality of Bissone is located at the eastern end of the Melide dam in the Lugano district. In the Middle Ages, Bissone was a fishing village and trading center. Fortified walls with entrance gates surrounded the village on the mountain side. With the completion of the dam, Bissone lost its trading functions, which are still recognizable today in the special settlement and construction methods. The village image is listed in the inventory of places worth protecting in Switzerland. In the old village center, the impressive village square and the characteristic, old palazzi with their typical arcades are particularly striking.

Hiking

The ancient inhabited nucleus develops towards the lake, taking on a comb pattern, with perpendicular streets for easy access to boats and a large clearing where activities and trade took place. The particular morphological and building structure of the town is characterized by a parade of houses and majestic porticoes built between the 14th and 17th centuries.
